POISTION SUMMARY

The individual in this position is responsible for managing all aspects of security activities for the casino in accordance with company policy and state regulations; responsible for supporting the achievement of revenue and income objectives, market share and customer service objectives; establishes departmental policies and procedures; develops and monitors departmental budget(s) to ensure effective operation of the security department. Establishment and implementation of the property safety committee as well as emergency response plans. The Director of Security’s goal is to create an environment that supports and rewards Team Members for providing an exciting environment and World Class Service by delivering Old-World Hospitality and Charm.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all- inclusive:

  • Hires, motivates, trains, coaches, mentors, and directs departmental managers that possess the aptitude to provide excitement as well as deliver world class service in order to ensure that Team Members receive sufficient leadership, guidance, and resources to accomplish established objectives
  • Required to create, develop, and implement an effective organizational strategy, setting clear and attainable goals in support of the property values
  • Formulates and makes recommendations regarding policies, administration, and procedures, works closely with other executives and managers in planning and carrying out activities and programs to assure the meeting of company and departmental objectives, ensures quality of management in all areas of the organization
  • Monitors and evaluates all department programs, events, and projects to ensure the successful execution leading to achievement of department goals and contributing to company profitability
  • Analyzes departments through data and reports in order to implement changes allowing for most successful implementation of future programs
  • Prepare operating budgets, monitors budget compliance, and takes action on variance items
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, develops effective procedures and controls, hold department heads, and self, accountable for property records and reports to the highest degree
  • Evaluates performance of reporting departments by analyzing data and reports in order to implement changes allowing for most successful implementation of future programs
  • Ensures a safe and secure atmosphere/environment for guests and Team Members in a manner suitable and expected in a resort environment
  • Required to coordinate security investigation efforts in conjunction with outside law enforcement agencies to assure proper handling of civil violations of patrons or Team Members; may occasionally appear in court with corporate attorneys to assist in criminal justice proceedings
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with regulatory and law enforcement agencies that effect the business, security, and compliance obligations of del Lago
  • Implements and monitors emergency response procedures to ensure prompt and safe handling of such emergencies as fire, flood, or bomb threats
  • Works with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities
  • Establishes and oversees property Safety Committee
  • Represents property on any public gathering as directed by management
  • Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, federal, state, local laws, and regulations, as applicable
  • Recommends revisions, updates, and recommends policy and procedures to the General Manager
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Management Executive Committee in order to offer an overall property management perspective as related to greater corporate issues and strategies and to ensure that the casino executives and board members can make informed decisions based on all relevant dimensions of the organization

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The Vice President of Security is required to possess public relations skills, knowledge of security operations and strong analytical abilities are important. Progressively responsible experience including law enforcement and security management. Thorough understanding of safety and security, as well as fiscal management skills. These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Business Administration field in addition to a minimum of eight years progressive experience in casino security operations or law enforcement leadership. Must have a gregarious personality, optimistic outlook, passionate about the business, proven track record of leading, inspiring, developing, and motivating constituents, proven track record of success in service excellence, financial and analytical aptitudes, adaptive management style, training advocate, attention to quality details, great communication skills and know how to deliver excitement.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino
  • Obtain required license(s)
  • Performs the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Responsible to take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco
  • Knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department
  • Knowledge of the property’s programs to address problem gambling
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with the state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls
  • Responsible to take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any staff member that they have knowledge of
