JOB SUMMARY

The Cage Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing cage operations during an assigned shift, ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure handling of cash and gaming transactions. This role supervises cage staff, monitors cash flow, delivers high-quality guest service, and ensures compliance with all applicable gaming regulations. The Cage Shift Manager works closely with surveillance, security, and other departments to maintain the integrity and security of financial operations throughout the gaming facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage cage operations during the assigned shift, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise, direct, and support cage staff, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and guidance.

  • Monitor and manage cash, chips, and currency transactions to ensure accuracy, security, and proper reconciliation.

  • Ensure correct payouts, cashier exchanges, chip counts, and end-of-shift balancing.

  • Provide excellent guest service by assisting with financial transactions and resolving guest concerns or issues.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and state gaming regulations related to cash handling, documentation, and security.

  • Work closely with surveillance and security teams to prevent, identify, and resolve discrepancies, theft, or suspicious activity.

  • Maintain accurate records and complete required reports related to cash movement, inventory, and incidents occurring during the shift.

  • Monitor and control inventory of chips, cash, and other financial instruments.

  • Address operational issues, discrepancies, complaints, and emergencies promptly and professionally.

  • Train new team members and provide ongoing training to ensure consistent performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and operational information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in basic math and financial transaction processing.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

  • Demonstrated integrity and accountability in cash-handling environments.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or related training preferred.

  • Prior experience in cage operations, cashiering, or a related role within a gaming facility required.

  • Supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of gaming regulations, internal controls, and cash-handling procedures.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, speak, hear, and use hands and arms.

  • May occasionally be required to sit.

  • Must have close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds.
