JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Gaming Facility. This role includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The Staff Accountant ensures that all financial transactions comply with applicable accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain the general ledger by preparing journal entries for daily transactions and adjustments

Reconcile accounts and identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports

Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures

Monitor gaming revenue, including processing and posting gaming-related transactions

Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements

Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and regulatory purposes

Perform account analysis and assist with budget preparation and variance reporting

Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions

Prepare and maintain documentation for internal and external audits

Assist with tax filings and other regulatory reporting as needed

Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Familiarity with regulatory requirements, preferably within the gaming industry
-
Proficiency with accounting software and systems, including Microsoft Excel and ERP platforms (e.g., S4/Hana, Oracle, or similar)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments

Availability to work as needed, including occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalent required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a gaming or hospitality environment

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
