Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming (“Marshall Yards” or the “Property”) will be a newly constructed facility in a high-traffic area in Calvert City, Kentucky at the intersection of I-69 and I-24. The Property will feature nearly 240 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), a sports bar and a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings.

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Manager ensures that HR activities are aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives and that they comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of HR and perform advanced professional work advising property team leaders and team members on the application of HR policies in the context of hiring, discipline, employment termination, training and development, compensation, benefits, and other human resource issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a consultant to influence leaders and colleagues, deliver constructive advice, identify and resolve problems and positively influence change
  • Oversee internal controls to ensure that all human resources programs and policies are compliant with state and federal laws and regulations (ex. FMLA, ERISA, FLSA)
  • Maintains, and provides guidance to all levels on HR-related policies and procedures, acting as a liaison between team members and management on employment and HR issues
  • Spearhead team member engagement programs Plan and execute training programs that are needed and appropriate for team members from all levels of the organization
  • Encourage strong team member relations through open communication, professional conduct, addressing and resolving team member issues, maintaining appropriate confidentiality, and implementation of industry best practices
  • Maintains department standards, guidelines, and objectives, and other administrative processes, such as budgeting and staffing, to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of the HR department
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills with a strong work ethic and ability to cultivate working relationships throughout the organization with all levels of team members, including senior management
  • Detail-oriented, professional demeanor, strong organization and project management skills
  • Excellent analytical, financial, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, federal and state employment laws, and union relations, etc.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field strongly preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience; preference will be given to experience in casino/gaming, hospitality, and sports industries.
  • Additional certifications (i.e., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.) preferred
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
