Title:  Laborer, Grounds

JOB SUMMARY

Maintain grounds by utilizing all landscaping equipment for such tasks. Responsible for assisting facilities technicians with special projects and regular maintenance periodically, as requested. Maintain upkeep of the property, including but not limited to buildings and grounds. Under the direct supervision of a higher-level operations or maintenance employee, the skilled laborer performs a variety of tasks for the Facilities and Grounds department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining landscaping working areas and other job sites as needed.
• Responsible for Grounds upkeep including but not limited to general landscaping, such as grass cutting, weed eating, bush hogging, plantings of shrubs and trees, pulling weeds, etc.
• Responsible for guest service, relations to assure that our guests have a favorable experience.
• Ensure the safety and security of Team Members and guests. Facilitates, processes and programs to effectively control and reduce loss time injuries.
• Operates a variety of small stationary equipment such as air compressors, portable generators, concrete mixers, pumps, etc.
• Operates a variety of Heavy Equipment such as water trucks, tractor and tractor implements, skid loaders, etc.
• Operates, maintains, and makes minor repairs to a wide variety of small/large equipment such as tractors, mowers, power saws, etc.
• Operates automotive equipment, such as pick-up trucks, small vans, or cars.
• Assists skilled mechanics in mechanical work on machinery and building trade operations.
• Builds forms or structures using bricks, concrete and stone, and the repair of same.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Maintaining a professional working relationship among all personnel.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in horticulture and landscaping is preferred.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
• Maintain a current driver’s license.
