We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sales and Events Specialist plays a key role in supporting and coordinating Fair Grounds events, services, and products provided to clients. This position ensures seamless execution of group sales, partnership activations, and event operations by collaborating with internal teams and clients. The Specialist acts as a liaison between clients and property leadership, ensuring that all events and sales activities meet the highest standards of customer service and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the Horseman Relations department to ensure seamless service for their clients, confirming that all reservations are properly handled. Additionally, processes all credit card transactions using Converge to ensure secure and efficient payment handling Responsible for supporting new sales clients to ensure that clients are sufficiently supported through the event process.
- Partner with Sales Management and team, as well as property peer leadership to support annual Group Sales and Membership Strategy.
- Represent Fair Grounds while potentially attending various local, regional and national sales and tourism business and association meetings.
- Act as primary sales software administrator in support of Delphi, Micros, tickets.com or other companies that used or contracted support systems.
- Processes POs, check requests, refunds and work orders on behalf of the department and with approvals as required.
- Coordinate with the Partnership and F&B Director to ensure all partnership agreement activation and fulfillment are being executed.
- Work with clients to identify their needs and communicate those to the Fair Grounds Property leadership for execution.
- Conduct site inspections and tours of facility and assist in the fulfillment of all events booked through the group sales office.
- Responsible for managing all reservations and box seat sales through Ticketmaster, including coordination of all race day reservations.
- complying with PCI regulations.
- Sells, processes and executes all trophy presentations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Louisiana Racing License.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or 1-2 years of experience. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
