We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
The Internal Auditor is responsible for conducting independent, protective, and constructive audits for the Company. This position reviews the effectiveness of controls, financial records, and operations and is responsible for reporting findings to the Internal Audit Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine records of the Company to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws.
- Inspect accounting systems to determine their efficiency and protective value.
- Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, fraud, or lack of compliance with management’s established policies or procedures.
- Prepare reports on findings and recommendations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Gaming and Racing License from Louisiana Racing Commission.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience in accounting. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations about the implementation of current duties. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draws valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.
