America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions. Completes new employee processing and terminations and assists HR Manager and Sr. Director of Human Resources with special projects and research.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes the onboarding process for newly hired team members from start to finish to include but not limited to creating position/requisition, running required background checks/pre-screenings, resolving issues/concerns that arise during the onboarding process, and coordination/facilitation of New Hire Orientation.
  • Coordinate the LSRC/Gaming License process for all new hires and renewals for existing team members.
  • Interacts with the LA State Police Gaming Commission weekly to process gaming applications to include renewals.
  • Process Tax Clearances and MVRs as required.
  • Conducting monthly, I-9 and Signature Card Audits (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Completes team member transactions/inquiries using SAP, ADP, WFS regarding promotions, pay changes, status changes, payroll related updates/inquiries, etc.)
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains current compliance.
  • Assist with the uniform distribution and management process when needed.
  • Retrieving HR Reports as needed.
  • Updates the Compliance reporting monthly and as needed.
  • Maintains anniversary recognition program.
  • Assists HR Manager or Sr. Director of HR with various research and/or special projects.
  • Backup/assist HR Assistant when needed (i.e. badge photos, answering phone lines, distributing pay checks, picking up/delivering mail and other items).
  • Assisting the HR Business Partner and HR Management Team with administrative tasks.
  • Coordination and participation in HR special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Working knowledge of computers software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  2. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  3. Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  4. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  5. Ability to multi-task.
  6. Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  7. Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  8. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: Bachelors Degree in Business, HR or related field or currently working towards obtaining degree; minimum of two years of job-related experience, preferably in a human resource department; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Must 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Racing License commissioned by LSRC.
