America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Keeps assigned areas in the facility clean.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and mops all floors, cleans and polished lighting fixtures, counter surfaces, vacuums rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture, dusts furniture and cleans assigned equipment and polishes metalwork.
  • Wash walls, ceiling and woodwork.  Wash windows, door panels and sills.
  • Cleans assigned hallways, lobbies, lounges, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other assigned work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms.
  • Empties wastebaskets, empties and cleans ashtrays and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies on a regular basis when open to the public.
  • Handles all cleaning substances according to proper handling procedures.
  • Notifies maintenance of replacement light bulbs needed and location.
  • Completes all housekeeping assignments within the time allotted for the assignment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Racing Commission. Must be 21 years old. Must be able to obtain a Gaming and Racing License from Louisiana.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of experience in housekeeping. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
