We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Facilities is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Warehouse Departments. This role ensures that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, efficiency, and functionality. The Director develops and implements policies, procedures, and preventative maintenance programs to support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness. In addition, the role is accountable for inventory and asset management within the warehouse to support property-wide needs. The Director works closely with senior leadership, department heads, and external vendors to deliver a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment that enhances the guest and employee experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees all staff specific duties within the Maintenance (Engineering), Housekeeping and Warehouse Departments.
  • Coordinates and supervises property maintenance, housekeeping, and receiving areas.
  • Monitors departmental monthly budgets, labor and productivity goals.
  • Develops and manages preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Oversees daily maintenance and repair operations of all building systems, equipment and facilities.
  • Manages maintenance requests and work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordinates with contractors, vendors on repairs, inspections and capital projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures, safety regulations, building codes and environmental standards.
  • Ensures adherence to all OSHA, DEQ and EPA requirements.
  • Coordinates and delegates maintenance work for all special events.
  • Oversees the Housekeeping department to ensure cleanliness standards are being met.
  • Oversees Receiving department and warehouse operations, including inventory control, distribution and shipping/receiving.
  • Manages/creates work schedules, approves time off requests, and other payroll functions.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years or older. Must have a Valid Driver’s License.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Four (4) Year Degree in Engineering and/or at least 10 years of related experience. Good knowledge of the techniques and terminology used in the operation of mechanical equipment; ability to operate a variety of mechanical equipment; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to work alone or with others; ability to learn new work quickly; mechanical ability; manual dexterity; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.   Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of EPA and DEQ requirements preferred. The ability to forge mutually beneficial working relationships with government agencies and surrounding neighborhoods. Working knowledge or ability to quickly become familiar with water quality requirements. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner.  Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regard to the implementation of current duties. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.

Office/Casino environment; Subject to outdoor temperature; Exposed to smoke, bright lights and noise at times. The work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level. Will occasionally work in extreme heat  or cold conditions.
