America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
Oversees all aspects of food service, banquets, menu planning, and, during the live race meet, management of the dining room, concession stands and track kitchen at the Fair Grounds track. Coordinates the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure the grandstands, offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, off track betting building and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all F&B and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards
- Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
- Design exceptional menus, purchase goods and continuously make necessary improvements
- Identify customers’ needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
- Lead F&B team by attracting, recruiting, training and appraising talented personnel
- Establish targets, KPI’s, schedules, policies and procedures
- Provide a two-way communication and nurture an ownership environment with emphasis in motivation and teamwork
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
- Perform all other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Gaming and Racing License from the Louisiana Racing Commission.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regard to the implementation of current duties. The ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.
