We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
Mix and serve drinks to patrons, directly or through wait staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes orders from customers or Wait Staff.
- Pours measured drink and mixes cocktails and other drinks.
- Serves wine, coffee, soda drinks, bottled water and draught or bottled beer.
- Collects money for drinks served.
- Prepares requisitions for liquors and supplies.
- Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display.
- Slices fruit and/or vegetables for garnishing drinks.
- Operates cash register and micros for recording of all sales.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Racing License from the Louisiana Racing Commission.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: High School diploma or equivalent. Pari-mutuel industry and cash handling experience desirable but not necessary. Ability to work in a high volume environment. Excellent verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail. Be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision. Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as required including nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regards to the implementation of current duties. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Constant wrist motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; Frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull.
