JOB SUMMARY

The Surveillance Investigator is responsible for guidance to assist in the administration and implementation of all Compliance and SOP policies including aiding security personnel to ensure guest and team member safety; coordinate investigations with inside and outside agencies; provides administrative and technical advice to supervisors and surveillance team members. Ensure compliance with all Federal and State laws and gaming regulations. Responsible for monitoring activities to ensure that guests or team members are not engaged in illegal activities, that all gaming and cash-handling activities are conducted in accordance with Virginia Racing Commission regulations and the Company’s internal controls and procedures. The incumbent may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays per business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts audits and investigations of all departments identifying any activity in violation of SOP or any suspicious activity.
  • Will assist the director in creation and implementation of the training of agents in all aspects of job competencies and compliance requirements.
  • Attends daily briefings and meetings, being on time and participating in a positive manner.
  • Ensures the smooth operation of the department by following policies and procedures and complying with Internal Control Policies and Procedures and managing shifts when a supervisor is not available.
  • Writes reports in a clear and concise manner noting only information based on fact without interjection of opinion.
  • Operates surveillance equipment within the surveillance room and reports any malfunction of the surveillance system.
  • Documents, observes, records, and reports any violations of state regulations, company policies or departmental procedures.
  • Interacts with local, state, and federal law enforcement in the investigations of criminal activity which occurs on company property.
  • Monitors currency transports in accordance with gaming procedures.
  • Completes tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Evaluates information to render an opinion or act based on that information that will impact the department or function.
  • Possesses skills to hasten resolution, assess course of action, and implement or act based upon findings.
  • Renders advice, and provides expertise or judgment based on information gathered, studied, analyzed, or reviewed.
  • Ensures the integrity of gambling, banking, count room and cash handling procedures.
  • Has complete understanding of policies and procedures for all gaming and cash handling areas.
  • Responsible for proper handling of confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction in assigning and instructing facilities team in the details of their work.
  • Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
  • Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.
  • Should be able to perform the duties of the Surveillance Operator job position as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills in analyzing video footage.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of video surveillance software, database management, and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to multitask and respond to telephone and radio traffic.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical certifications in related field.
  • One year of experience in surveillance, formal security, law enforcement training, schooling, or certification.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must obtain valid Virginia Racing Commission License.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

    • The Team Member will be required to sit and remain stationary for extended periods of time.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
    • The Team Member will be required to sit and remain stationary for extended periods of time.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • The Team Member may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • The Team Member may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • The Team Member must be able to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, instructions, and correspondence/memos to include writing reports and communicating with managers, staff, guests, and the general public.
    • The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and customer volume.
    • The work environment may consist of a dark area viewing video monitors for entire shift.
