JOB SUMMARY

Maintains and repairs the saddling paddock, surrounding facilities and physical structures by performing various duties from cleaning, weed removal and area beautification to assisting in the execution of live horse racing operations as well as other duties as assigned, to provide guests with a world-class racing experience. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintenance responsibilities may include raking, mowing, stall mucking, string trimming, garbage removal and general maintenance of the saddling paddock, winner’s circle, track, and barn areas. 

  1. Ensures that ice and water hoses are available throughout live racing hours.

  2. Required to remain calm around multiple people and horses in confined area. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) racing license.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Basic maintenance and/or housekeeping experience a plus.
  • Experience working with or around horses highly preferred.
  • Must be able to follow instructions without question (due to safety).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Interior and exterior work in all types of weather. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach. Must be comfortable around multiple horses.
