JOB SUMMARY

Sells and cashes wagering vouchers for guest use at self-serve terminals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operates under strict rules and regulations as postulated by the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) and Colonial Downs Group, LLC. regarding guest service and money handling.
  2. Operates a mutuel window providing courteous service and conduct with moral and ethical standards. Must refrain from personal wagering.
  3. Uses a teller terminal (ticket issuing machine) in tandem with a money drawer.
  4. Accepts wagers and operates with due care in issuing the mutuel ticket so that it reflects the correct wager, pool, race, runner and racetrack.
  5. Cashes winning tickets, determining a ticket’s validity and value, by running tickets through the ticket reader on the teller’s terminal.
  6. Accepts full responsibility for the money handling in the issuance and cashing of mutuel tickets, draws and returns from the money room and the liability for any shortage that may occur.
  7. Monitors guests to prohibit minors from wagering. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.
  • Must be available to work during all live race days at Colonial Downs. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have money handling experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) racing license
