JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Jock’s Room operations. Performs a variety of duties to prepare jockeys for live race action and supports the presentation of a professional, safe, and well-organized racing environment for participants and wagering guests. This is a seasonal position for the March race meet at Colonial Downs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides a high level of service to internal and external guests, demonstrating professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.
- Supports jockeys by attending to their needs before, during, and after live race action.
- Arranges jockey silks, saddle towels, and related equipment so that all items are prepared and available prior to each race.
- Cleans, maintains, and ensures proper care of jockey equipment and clothing to keep items presentable and in good repair.
- Launders jockey silks, saddle pads, and saddle towels according to established procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged or sensitive information in accordance with Company policy and applicable regulations.
- Keeps the Director of Racing Operations informed of relevant activities, issues, or concerns.
- Resolves problems within the scope of the position’s authority and escalates matters beyond that scope to the appropriate supervisor.
- Attends required meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in horse racing, athletics support, hospitality, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain a Virginia racing commission license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- The Team Member is required to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- The position may require bending, reaching, lifting, and handling equipment and supplies.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available to work the full race meet schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The work environment may include exposure to noise, crowds, and outdoor conditions associated with live racing events.
