We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Police Detail Officer to provide security and maintain safety at Fair Grounds OTB parlor, or other special assignments. In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping the public safe, managing traffic, and responding to any incidents that may arise. The goal is to ensure that everything runs smoothly and securely while enforcing the law professionally and fairly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patrol assigned areas and monitor for safety concerns.
  • Manage crowds as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or incidents on-site.
  • Document activities, incidents, and any actions taken.
  • Work closely with supervisors, other officers, and sometimes private clients to meet assignment needs.
  • Assist the public and provide information when necessary.
  • Follow all laws and department policies while on duty.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be a certified law enforcement officer.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
  • Physically able to stand, walk, or be active for long periods.
  • Previous experience in event security, traffic control, or special assignments is a plus.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position has contact with gaming patrons on the gaming floor and Racing guests. Constant wrist motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; Frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
