FUNCTION

The Senior Director of Gaming Operations is responsible for the successful operation of the Gaming Department to ensure that our guests have a favorable gaming experience.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager for both Derby City Gaming properties by overseeing the efficient execution of Gaming Operations, along with directing effective Beverage Server operations at Derby City Gaming Poplar Level, and optimizing HRM performance with a focus on floor management, preventive maintenance, and sustained equipment performance for both Derby City Gaming properties.
  • Develops and manages the budget for the department.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action processes for the Gaming Operations Department at both Derby City Gaming and Hotel and Derby City Gaming Downtown, along with the Beverage Server Department at Derby City Gaming and Hotel.
  • Ensure Beverage servers uphold Derby City Gaming’s policy on responsible consumption.
  • Reviews and manages the department’s financial results.
  • Supports the CDI Sr. Director of Slot/HRM Optimization when needed:
    • To compile and/or review regulatory submissions
    • To assist with new build installations
    • To assist with other HRM strategic initiatives in Kentucky
  • Ensures the safety and security of team members and guests.  Manages processes and programs to effectively control and reduce lost-time injuries.
  • Approves large jackpots above levels authorized for subordinates as set out in the SOP.
  • Reviews staffing levels for the Gaming, Beverage Server, and Performance departments to maintain an appropriate level of employment.
  • Delegates duties and assigns responsibilities.
  • Development of team members, interviews, hiring, and evaluations.
  • Directs and manages gaming equipment conversions, placement, and repair.
  • Reviews gaming activities and promotional statuses with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
  • Monitors and adjusts performance for both the gaming floor in comparison with local competition and optimal gaming mix and pricing strategy.
  • Meets with departmental directors and managers as necessary.  
  • Ensure compliance with all gaming regulations, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and the property’s BSA Policy.
  • Monitors for suspicious activity as defined by the BSA and the property’s BSA Policy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure operational coverage.
  • Maintains the highest standards of leadership, training, and overall management while overseeing all aspects of the Gaming Operations and Gaming Performance departments, along with Beverage Server Operations at Derby City Gaming and Hotel.
  • Maintaining a professional working relationship among all personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Leads by example relative to exemplary customer service, both internal and external.
  • Travels as necessary to support sites within Kentucky region.
  • Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of gaming machines.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Seven to ten years of experience with operations and management in a multi-device 24-hour gaming operation.
  • Four-year degree in related fields or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Significant experience and expertise collecting, organizing, evaluating, and presenting Gaming Performance Data.
  • Experience using Aristocrat Oasis Accounting System a plus.
  • Valid Racing License.
  • Valid Sportsbook License.
