JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Accounting is responsible for the financial and accounting functions within a specific functional area of the Company. Responsibilities include assisting in the development and overseeing of accounting policies, practices, and procedures to ensure that financial and strategic goals are attained within their functional area. The Senior Director of Accounting will provide leadership and management of their accounting team, including the development of that team.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of accounting experience with accounting leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of JDE and/or Oracle PeopleSoft accounting software preferred.
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements for internal controls.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have management experience and presence.
  • Leadership with an emphasis on inter-personal relationships and a “results orientation” with the team.
  • Analytical skills that will allow him/her to look at alternatives and identify discrepancies and irregularities and determine the best solution to correcting any situation.
  • Strategic skills to tackle problems and develop analyses, projections, and scenarios for short- and long-term strategic planning.
  • Ability to set goals, manage timetables and meet deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with accounting policies, practices, and procedures for their functional area:
    • Responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, and leading the accounting team, assisting in establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure conformance with GAAP, and other reporting requirements.
    • Develops processes and structures that improve the efficiency of the accounting and finance organization and the flow of quality financial information within the Company.
    • Maintains internal controls in processes and procedures.
  • Directs and manages the accounting and audit process:
    • Strong management of our internal and external partners – auditors, accounting services, tax advisors, compliance, etc.
    • Ensures compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and statutory reporting.
  • Communicates effectively across the organization:
    • Strong reporting, analytical, and operational finance experience, and aptitude.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy in work.
    • Coaches the team to work and operate expertly across the entire organization.
