Job Description: As part of the TwinSpires Business Intelligence (BI) team, support our online horse wagering business. Gather, model, and load data into our data warehouse. Create reports and report interfaces, conduct analysis to assess performance and recommend changes, and support ongoing operational decisions. Design, develop, build, and maintain ETL processes and Data Warehouse objects including SSIS, SQL stored procedures, and the MicroStrategy semantic model. Modify existing reports and develop new reports by analyzing databases, data sources, and structures for the benefit of various users. Participate in data management and data warehousing technologies related to data modeling, database administration and performance tuning, archiving, and disaster recovery. Use SQL and complex stored procedures, common table expressions, analytic functions, query optimization, and indexing. Utilize AWS, and object oriented languages including C#, Python, or R. Work with data warehouses, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL. Design, implement and maintain normalized, operational data store, and dimensionally modeled database systems. Translate business requirements into detailed, production-level technical specifications. Architect and create the data layer to support the analysis of customer data and business operations. Identify trends, segments, and opportunities and create actionable insights to increase engagement and revenue across the business.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in computer information technology, data science, electrical engineering, or related.
Experience Requirement: 5 years of experience as data analyst, data architect, or software engineer.
Special Skills: Must have work experience in each of the following: 1) Developing frameworks for batch data ingestion, building integrated analytical datasets using ETL jobs, and building/maintaining ETL and Data Warehouse objects using SSIS, SQL stored procedures, python scripts, batch scripts, and MicroStrategy semantic models; 2) Independently writing API calls to retrieve needed information for third-party and internal API specifications; and 3) Liaising with business users across multiple business functions and translating requirements into technical specifications, including simplifying complex and layered data while maintaining existing capabilities.
