JOB SUMMARY

Are you a financial professional  that excels at cash handling interested in joining the exciting world of horse racing and gaming? Ellis Park Racing & Gaming is hiring for a Cage Teller to complete our winning team!

The Cage Teller is responsible for redemption of gaming tickets/vouchers, performing check cashing/cash advance transactions for guests and facilitating sportsbook wagering while also completing financial reporting requirements and ensuring a great experience for our guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to departmental procedures, safety rules, health regulations and Ellis Park Policy and Procedures rules.
  • Complete Multiple Transaction Log (MTL), Negotiable Instrument Log (NIL), Currency Transaction Report (CTR), and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) accurately. Count all money straps and record date with initials/ID number on strap. Rotate currency, ensuring the straps with the oldest dates are used first.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact, speak accurately, clearly, and verbally greet guests).
  1. Maintain experience with money handling, counting, and complex mathematical skills.
  • Cash all types of checks for customers (personal checks, cash advances) in accordance with the company’s check cashing policies and procedures. Records all checks cashed in the specified computer system.
  • Redeem ticket in ticket out (TITO), vouchers.
  • Secure and document all recordable transactions made with company assets.
  • Fill out and sign variance form if bank does not balance at end of shift, which must include possible reason for every variance.
  • Correctly operate any cage equipment (currency sorter/counter).
  • Process jackpots correctly.
  • You will also be assisting with doing Drop/Soft count and Mutuels drop always making sure that all employees adhere departmental procedures.

  • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all Ellis Park personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience operating counting equipment (money sorters/counters, 10-key calculator).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED Certification preferred.
  • Must have relevant work experience in cash handling or cage cashier capacity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • The job requires the ability to bend over, crawl, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, reach overhear, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, see and repetitively use hands 51-100% if the time, and the ability to balance/climb 25-50% of the time.
  • Requires employee to hear, sit, talk, and repetitively use hands the majority of the time.
  • Requires employee to occasionally stand and walk.
  • Requires employee to occasionally push/pull, carry, lift, and slide/transfer 1-30 lb
  • The job requires the ability to problem solve, organize, read and perform math skills 51-100% of the time.
