JOB SUMMARY
The Security Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the casino’s security department to ensure the safety and protection of guests, team members, and property. This leadership role involves managing a team of security officers, developing and implementing security protocols, monitoring surveillance systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, including gaming commission regulations. The Security Operations Manager works closely with other departments, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies to respond to incidents, conduct investigations, and maintain a secure and welcoming environment within the casino.
Key responsibilities include supervising shift operations, evaluating and enhancing security procedures, managing emergency response efforts, conducting regular training, and preparing detailed incident and activity reports. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of casino security practices, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Security Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and property. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Oversee daily operations of the casino’s security department, ensuring consistent coverage and execution of security protocols.

Direct response efforts during security-related incidents, including guest disturbances, emergencies, and violations of gaming regulations.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, internal policies, and regulatory requirements, including those set by state and tribal gaming commissions.

Conduct and oversee investigations into incidents involving theft, fraud, misconduct, or suspicious activity.

Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for physical security, emergency response, and risk mitigation.

Serve as the liaison with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.

Collaborate with Surveillance to monitor activity on the gaming floor and ensure proper documentation and escalation of potential threats.

Lead ongoing training and development for security officers in customer service, de-escalation, safety, and compliance.

Monitor and maintain all security systems, including surveillance, alarms, and access control technologies.

Prepare accurate and timely reports related to incidents, patrols, investigations, and departmental performance.

Plan and manage security logistics for special events, VIP visits, and high-traffic periods.

Identify and mitigate potential risks and vulnerabilities throughout the property.

Assist in managing the department budget, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong Leadership & Team Management – Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of security personnel across multiple shifts.

Knowledge of Casino Operations & Gaming Regulations – In-depth understanding of casino floor operations, gaming regulations (state, tribal, or local), and regulatory compliance standards.

Crisis Management & Decision Making – Capable of staying calm under pressure and making fast, sound decisions during emergencies or high-stress situations.

Investigation & Reporting – Skilled in conducting investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and writing detailed, objective reports.

Excellent Communication – Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, guests, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies.

Technology Proficiency – Comfortable using surveillance systems, access control software, radio communication tools, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Physical & Situational Awareness – High level of situational awareness and ability to identify suspicious activity, security risks, or policy violations in real time.

Customer Service Orientation – Ability to handle guest interactions professionally and respectfully, even during challenging situations.

Policy & Procedure Development – Capable of writing, reviewing, and implementing security protocols and standard operating procedures.

Training & Coaching – Experience developing and delivering training programs in safety, compliance, emergency response, or de-escalation techniques.

Confidentiality & Integrity – Strong ethical standards with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and responsibly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; Experience in security preferred but not necessary.
- Background and knowledge of security operations OSHA regulations, safety, investigations and legal issues.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in security or law enforcement, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Prior experience in a casino, gaming, or hospitality environment strongly preferred.

Familiarity with gaming regulations and compliance standards required.

Experience working with regulatory agencies and coordinating emergency response efforts is a plus.
