Title:  Barista

JOB SUMMARY

The Barista prepares and serves quality coffee, specialty beverages, and light food items at Perks at Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa while providing exceptional guest service in a fast-paced casino resort environment. The position supports efficient operations, product consistency, cleanliness, and compliance with Starbucks recipes, Harlow’s standards, and applicable health and safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Greet and serve casino guests and team members in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

•    Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, specialty drinks, and light food items according to Starbucks recipes and established Harlow’s and Perks standards.

•    Operate and maintain coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and related equipment safely and efficiently.

•    Take and accurately process guest orders, cash transactions, and electronic payments using the point-of-sale (POS) system and established cash handling procedures.

•    Maintain clean, organized, sanitary, and properly stocked beverage preparation and guest service areas, including creamer, sugar, napkins, and stir sticks.

•    Stock food and display cases with fresh products, maintain attractive merchandise displays, and check expiration dates. Follow food safety, sanitation, product storage, and inventory rotation procedures.

•    Monitor inventory levels, replenish supplies, and minimize product waste.

•    Complete assigned opening, closing, and daily operational duties.

•    Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and complaints to ensure a positive guest experience.

•    Follow Harlow’s policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal gaming, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

•    Maintain a safe environment for team members and guests. Immediately report unsafe conditions and team member or guest incidents to management or Security.

•    Communicate effectively with guests and all levels of the Harlow’s team.

•    Maintain a positive, professional image when performing duties or representing Harlow’s, and encourage others to do the same.

•    Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

•    Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong customer service, communication, and basic math skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing; multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume environment; operate POS systems; learn beverage preparation techniques; and understand Starbucks recipes applicable to the menu. Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and teamwork.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED preferred.

One (1) year of guest service and cashier experience preferred. Previous barista or food and beverage experience preferred; casino or hospitality experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Busy casino resort environment with varying noise levels and guest traffic. Work involves hot beverages, equipment, and cleaning chemicals. Must be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
