REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Rides horseback during the mornings and evening hours to insure safety for everyone involved on the track
Maintain orderly post parades during races
Catches loose horses by horseback
Assist in handling injured horses
Provide care for ponies
Approve all exercise riders, jockey and pony riders
Clean horses, horse’s shoes and feet
Distribute hay and straw bales to stables
Communicate with racing stewards
Qualification Requirements:
- Must be an excellent horseback rider
- 5 or more years experience working with horses as well as horse racing
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be approved by racing commission
- Must be able to communicate
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to, stand, sit, reach, speak, hear, see, color vision, depth perception, ride horses, lift up to 75lbs., carry up to 75lbs., climb, stoop, kneel, crouch,
