JOB SUMMARY

The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful operation of all food and beverage outlets at Turfway Park. This includes Bourbon & Brew, Serena's Pizzaria, the Beverage Department and Smiley’s Bar and Grill (located in Newport Racing & Gaming).  This position is responsible for directing the work of all salaried and hourly staff in the F&B front and back of house while monitoring food quality, presentation, and service standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops accurate long and short range financial objectives relating to food sales.
  • Reviews staffing levels to maintain budgeted levels of employment.  Delegates authority and assigns responsibilities.
  • Manages department’s financial data.  Maintains effective cost and controls in the restaurants, including accurate par levels and inventory counts.
  • Conducts interviews, selection and hiring of Team Members, delegates and assigns duties, maintains attendance and performance trackers, completes evaluations and develops team members, and determines corrective counseling as needed.
  • Promotes outstanding customer relations by resolving guest issues in a manner that reflect core values.
  • Meets with departmental directors and managers as necessary.      
  • Creates and maintains accurate menus and product availability.
  • Ensure the safety and security of Team Members and guests.  Supervises programs and processes to reduce and control loss of time due to injuries and to ensure correct interpretation of policies.
  • Adheres to all sanitation and cleanliness standards set by the local and federal government.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Management abilities demonstrated in managing the food outlets operational effectiveness.
  • Expert in field and up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Maintaining interpersonal working relationship among all personnel.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of the department.
  • Available to work when needed including weekends, holidays and evenings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to efficiently use Microsoft, Excel, POS and back office computer systems.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Racing License and any applicable health certifications.
