Job Description

A Busser is a restaurant professional who is responsible for making sure that tables are cleaned, and silverware is placed correctly. They support the serving staff to ensure all tables are set and cleared in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations

  1. Clear dirty dishes/glasses from the tables and bar when guests are finished.
  2. Clean tables and chairs to prepare for the next guests.
    1. Use Sanitizer wipes for removal of all food product and germs
  3. Reset tables with rolls of silverware
  4. Clean up any spills in the restaurant.
    1. Utilize wet floor signs, mops, mop buckets, and towels to ensure a safe and dry walking area for team members and guests.
  5. Empty trash bins and take trash receptacles to the dock for disposal.
  6. Restock glassware.
  7. Be in proper uniform and ready for work at the start of your shift.
  8. Fill ice Cambro’s and ice wells.
  9. Clean tray jacks and place in correct locations for ease of use.
  10. Set up dump stations at both back of house doors and maintain them throughout the shift.
    1. When a bus tub gets full remove the full bus tub and take to the dish pit.
    2. These must be fully broken down at the end of each shift.
    3. The cart and all bus tubs should be cleaned as part of break down.
  11. If scheduled to help open the restaurant assist with taking down chairs.
  12. If still on shift when the bar closes, assist with putting the chairs up.

** In addition to the above you will also be expected to do the following **

  • Practice safe alcohol serving practices.
    • Even though you are not serving alcohol, if you see something you find concerning, please alert a manager.
  • Be in proper uniform and ready for work at the start of your shift.
    • Nonslip shoes are a required part of your uniform.
  • Communicate with management regarding calling off, switching shifts, or other schedule changes/errors.
    • All shift swaps must be approved by management prior to the shift
  • Assist at the host stand when we do not have a host scheduled.
  • Assist other team members to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
  • Complete any extra tasks given by the manager or lead on duty as needed.
  • Complete assigned shift work and closing duties.
  • Take breaks and eat meals in designated areas as listed in the Breaks and Meals SOP.
