We’re looking for a detail-oriented and organized professional to manage the financial side of live racing as our Horsemen’s Bookkeeper. From tracking jockey fees to preparing checks, reconciling accounts, and working with State Stewards, you'll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate performs the duties of the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper. This includes, but is not limited to, tracking the riding accounts of the jockeys receiving fees, disbursing fees to proper claimants, preparing and disbursing horsemen’s checks and transfers to account holders. Candidate will manage the bookkeeper office to ensure procedures are being followed so the department runs smoothly. Candidate works directly with State Stewards on all fine issues. Candidate will reconcile all accounts associated with live racing and prepare W-9’s and statements for all accounts. Candidate will coordinate financial transactions with the Senior Director of Operations as needed. Candidate may be responsible for setting the racing program up for printing. Candidate will contribute to Racing Department team by overseeing and accomplishing all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum two-year administrative and accounting experience required. Experience in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database management. Incompass Software experience a plus. Previous cash handling experience necessary and knowledge of pari-mutuel wagering a plus. Confidentiality of information and records a must. Candidate must have excellent problem-solving and prioritization skills and be highly organized. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must be able to obtain appropriate licensing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School/GED required. Associates degree or some college preferred.
