Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming is a newly constructed facility in a high-traffic area in Calvert City, Kentucky at the intersection of I-69 and I-24. The Property will feature nearly 240 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), a sports bar and a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for leading the successful overall direction, administration, and coordination of all operating activities of Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming including Pre-opening activities, culture creation, staffing, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the ongoing operations of historical racing machine operations, gaming operations, simulcast operations, sportsbook operations, and entertainment operations.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with the efficient handling of all information related to hiring, recruiting, payroll, training, engagement, and many other HR functions. Supports recruitment and retention initiatives.  Assists the HR team with streamlining processes and creating efficiency. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for recruiting activities such as posting jobs, managing job requisitions, coordinating job fairs and hiring events, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, extending offers, facilitating pre-employment, launching onboarding, processing new hires, etc. 
  • Responsible for uniform distribution and inventory for all team members
  • Initiates KHRGC licensing for all team members 
  • Assists with scheduling and conducting new hire orientation and property training 
  • Assist with the planning and execution of team member engagement initiatives, including anniversary, birthday, and promotional announcements
  • Provide support to the HR Manager regarding Team Member relations to help resolve complaints, policy and procedure violations, and interpersonal conflicts
  • Assists with investigations into harassment, discrimination, and retaliation complaints with HR management
  • Review incoming documents for adherence to established procedures/policies, including completeness of information and appropriate signatures 
  • Enter information into HR systems with attention to accuracy and timelines  
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow Team Members.
  • Provide administrative/clerical support for the HR department to include benefit enrollments, filing, scanning, reporting, and new hire processing
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Assists the leadership team with administrative requests as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods 
  • Understanding employment laws and regulations 
  • Knowledge and understanding of recruiting and sourcing techniques. 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Must be detail-oriented, have a professional attitude, strong organizational and time management skills, and be customer-focused
  • Experience using technology for HR and/or recruiting systems
  • Experience in HR policy interpretation 
  • Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights as part of an HR rotation, which includes morning and mid shifts and a weekend rotation
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field, one to two years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience is preferred. 
  • One (1) year of recruiting and/or HR experience preferred.
