Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming will be a newly constructed facility in a high-traffic area in Calvery City, Kentucky at the intersection of I-69 and I-24. The Property will feature nearly 240 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), a sports bar and a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for leading the successful overall direction, administration, and coordination of all operating activities of Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming including Pre-opening activities, culture creation, staffing, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the ongoing operations of historical racing machine operations, gaming operations, simulcast operations, sportsbook operations, and entertainment operations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Gaming Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the gaming floor and related guest service areas. This position oversees gaming activities, guest experience, cleanliness standards, and on-site technology support, ensuring all areas operate efficiently, comply with regulatory requirements, and meet company standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily gaming floor operations to ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and exceptional guest service.
- Assign and delegate duties to team members to meet departmental goals and maintain operational standards.
- Monitor historical horse racing machine (HRM) performance, making recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure all gaming operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal controls.
- Support the execution of VIP programs and initiatives that strengthen guest loyalty and drive repeat visits.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards across the gaming floor and related guest areas, ensuring consistent presentation.
- Provide oversight for on-site technology support, ensuring timely resolution of operational issues and escalation to enterprise IT when necessary.
- Maintaining required documentation of game moves, maintenance and repair logs, and purchase orders and requisitions for game machine parts and supplies.
- Administers the gaming systems (Ainsworth & Exacta) and gaming data system (Oasis).
- Responsible for reviewing reports and statistical data for malfunctions or other problems and implementing appropriate maintenance and repair lists.
- Develop and enforce department SOPs and operational standards.
- Review staffing levels and approve scheduling to ensure adequate coverage within budget guidelines.
- Ensure the service culture is present in every guest interaction through training, coaching, and accountability.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members, providing regular coaching and performance feedback.
- Participate in departmental budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support operational and financial performance.
- Monitor departmental expenses and oversee ordering and inventory for operational and housekeeping supplies.
- Engage regularly with guests to assess satisfaction and promptly address concerns.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations during promotions, events, and peak business periods.
- Analyze operational performance metrics and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Ensure the safety and security of team members and guests.
- Adherence to state gaming regulations.
- Be available for on-call response, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse operational areas effectively.
- Maintains confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all dealings.
- Strict compliance with Innkeeper Laws.
- Strong knowledge of gaming operations, guest service standards, and cleanliness requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with guests, team members, and regulatory agencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Three to five years’ experience in gaming operations, with at least two years in a leadership role.
- Knowledge of gaming operations and related regulations required.
- Experience overseeing guest services, housekeeping, and IT technology support preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
