Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming will be a newly constructed facility in a high-traffic area in Calvery City, Kentucky at the intersection of I-69 and I-24. The Property will feature nearly 240 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), a sports bar and a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for leading the successful overall direction, administration, and coordination of all operating activities of Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming including Pre-opening activities, culture creation, staffing, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the ongoing operations of historical racing machine operations, gaming operations, simulcast operations, sportsbook operations, and entertainment operations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Cage Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of the Cage and Count Room, ensuring the accuracy, security, and accountability of all monetary transactions. This position combines strategic oversight with a hands-on operational presence, working closely with supervisors to maintain efficient guest service, regulatory compliance, and optimal team performance. The Cage Manager develops and enforces internal controls, oversees financial performance, and ensures the safety and security of all cage and count operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily Cage, Count Room, Player Services, and Sports Wagering areas to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
- Assign and delegate duties to Cage Supervisors, Count Room Lead, and other team members to meet operational and financial goals.
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor to support guest service, team engagement, and adherence to internal controls.
- Review, approve, and monitor all cage and count transactions and reports, balancing and verifying cash and chip inventories.
- Ensure the safety and security of all assets through compliance with internal controls, company policies, and state and federal regulations.
- Oversee Title 31/BSA/AML compliance, ensuring required reports and procedures are followed accurately, timely, and in compliance.
- Monitor staffing levels and approve scheduling to meet operational needs and budget guidelines.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members, providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Participate in departmental budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support financial performance goals.
- Oversee ordering and inventory of cage supplies, including currency and chips, maintaining proper storage and documentation.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory audits and inspections, providing documentation and explanations as required.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations during promotions, events, and peak business periods.
- Monitor and address guest service issues promptly, ensuring a positive gaming experience.
- Review operational performance and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce variances.
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external partners, including regulators and vendors.
- Develop and enforce department SOPs and operational standards.
- Review staffing levels and approve scheduling to ensure adequate coverage within budget guidelines.
- Ensure the service culture is present in every guest interaction through training, coaching, and accountability.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members, providing regular coaching and performance feedback.
- Participate in departmental budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support operational and financial performance.
- Monitor departmental expenses and oversee ordering and inventory for operational supplies.
- Engage regularly with guests to assess satisfaction and promptly address concerns.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations during promotions, events, and peak business periods.
- Analyze operational performance metrics and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Ensure the safety and security of team members and guests.
- Adherence to state gaming regulations.
- Be available for on-call response, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to lead both strategically and operationally in a gaming cage environment.
- Maintains confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all dealings.
- Strong knowledge of cage operations, count room processes, and gaming regulations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with guests, team members, and regulatory agencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Three to five years’ experience in gaming cage operations, with at least two years in a management role.
- Knowledge of Title 31/BSA/AML compliance and gaming regulations required.
- Experience in count room operations preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license and Race and Sportsbook Employee License.
