Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming will be a newly constructed facility in a high-traffic area in Calvert City, Kentucky at the intersection of I-69 and I-24. The Property will feature nearly 240 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), a sports bar and a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for leading the successful overall direction, administration, and coordination of all operating activities of Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming including Pre-opening activities, culture creation, staffing, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the ongoing operations of historical racing machine operations, gaming operations, simulcast operations, sportsbook operations, and entertainment operations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Bar Back maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the bar outlets. They are also responsible for the delivery, maintenance, stocking, cleaning, and supply of products in food and beverage venues—services that include assistance with setup or breakdown functions periodically or as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform effectively under high-pressure, demanding situations, often in compact spaces of four feet or less, with close contact with team members and guests; able to work in a smoking environment.
  • Rotate products using First In, First Out (FIFO) practices; maintain inventory control by ordering strictly on a bottle-for-bottle basis as used.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the bar outlet at all times.
  • Operate communication devices such as telephones, two-way radios, and bulletin boards efficiently.
  • Engage with guests to build positive relationships, resolve concerns, and create loyalty opportunities.
  • Ensure all beverages are prepared according to approved recipes, with proper garnishes, and delivered promptly while following alcohol awareness procedures.
  • Assist the F&B Supervisor with inventory control, proper product rotation, checking use-by dates on beer and dairy items, and labeling fresh-cut produce; stock and rotate all products, cutting fresh fruit daily.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Perform daily inventory of all required stock within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure requisitions are completed and delivered promptly.
  • Model prompt, efficient service standards to Bartenders, Servers, Concession Attendants, and Leadership.
  • Remain available to support and perform special functions as directed by Leadership.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and respond quickly when contacted via in-house radio.
  • Maintain equipment in proper order and report any malfunctions immediately.
  • Consistently follow departmental training standards, including clean-as-you-go and re-checking guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all departmental sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the bar area while following all safety and alcohol awareness procedures.
  • Rotate and stock products using FIFO practices, accurately track inventory, and restock supplies as needed.
  • Prepare beverages according to approved recipes with proper garnishes and assist with food prep tasks such as cutting fresh fruit daily.
  • Provide prompt, friendly service to guests and address food or beverage concerns in partnership with front-of-house staff.
  • Operate communication devices such as telephones and two-way radios, and respond quickly to requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work an alternate schedule with a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•    Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
•    Prior experience preferred.
•    Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
