JOB SUMMARY
Exciting opportunity to work at Ocean Downs Casino Racetrack only 10 minutes from the beaches and boardwalk of Ocean City, MD! Work with an awesome team while ensuring a good time for our guests. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and ensures a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount.
- Work with the starting judge in all areas involving use of the starting gate.
- Will steer and accelerate the starting gate vehicle as instructed by the starting judge.
- Will follow the horses around the racing surface in a safe manner.
- In the event of an accident or incident involving a horse and/or driver, will assist the starter by strategically placing the gate and vehicle into a helpful position.
- Verify that all equipment is in perfect working order prior to each racing program.
- Communicate (both written and verbal) with and promote positive team member and guest relations.
- Maintain professionalism at all times when working with other team members and/or guests.
- Ability to adapt to a wide array of situations in a short period of time.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must hold valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position. American Sign Language is also an acceptable form of communication.
- Ability to consistently comprehend, retain and execute written, verbal and demonstrated directions, explanations and guidance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to obtain and keep a License issued by the Maryland Racing Commission required of all Racing Services employees.
