Title:  Photo/Timer Operator

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the presiding judge to verify that all equipment is in perfect working order prior to each racing program.
• Responsible for the functionality of timing every race using an approved electronic timing device.
• Responsible for verifying the timing of each race and recording those times accurately.
• Work with the judges in situations where photo finishes are necessary to determine horse positions at end of race. 
• Communicate (both written and verbal) with and promote positive team member and guest relations.
• Maintain professionalism at all times when working with other team members and/or guests.
• Ability to adapt to a wide array of situations in a short period of time.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be versed and trained by the independent timing and photo finish company that conducts this function at the racetrack.
• Must be able to operate the machinery used in conjunction with the timing and photo finish operations, including knowing back-up systems and capabilities.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position. Ability to consistently comprehend, retain and execute written, verbal and demonstrated directions, explanations and guidance.
• Must be able to obtain and keep a License issued by the Maryland Racing Commission required of all Racing Services employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to stand / walk and/or sit for extended periods of time without difficulty.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
