Title:  Director, Product Marketing

Requisition ID#:  3131
Location:

Austin, TX, US, 78735

Property:  Exacta
Pay Range:

Exacta Systems is the industry-leading software platform provider powering Historical Horse Racing (HHR) technology — secure, compliant, and innovative solutions for one of gaming's most dynamic and fast-growing regulated markets. As part of the Churchill Downs family, we combine the stability and resources of a storied gaming enterprise with the agility and focus of a dedicated technology team.

We're building something here. Our products are sophisticated, our market is competitive, and our customers operate in a highly regulated environment where precision, trust, and differentiation matter. We're looking for a product marketing leader who is energized by that challenge — someone who can take a product story and turn it into a commercial advantage.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a rare chance to own the product marketing function end-to-end at a company where the discipline is still being built. You won't be inheriting someone else's playbook — you'll be writing it. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product, you'll serve as the PMM expert in the room, partnering directly with Product and Sales to define how our products show up in the market, how our sales team wins, and how customer insights shape what we build next.

If you're someone who knows what great product marketing looks like, has done it before, and is energized by the idea of building the infrastructure from scratch in a lean, high-impact environment — this role was designed for you.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Commercialization & Go-to-Market: Own GTM strategy across the portfolio, ensuring products are clearly positioned, differentiated, and successfully adopted in the market. You define the approach — we give you the direction.

  • Product Positioning & Messaging: Define and maintain product positioning, value propositions, and benefit-driven messaging frameworks aligned to product strategy, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.

  • Product Launches & Readiness: Lead end-to-end launch strategy — planning, messaging, enablement, and cross-functional readiness — to ensure effective market entry and sustained adoption.

  • Sales Enablement & Effectiveness: Own sales enablement strategy, equipping the sales team with the tools, messaging, and insights required to sell effectively and consistently. Build the infrastructure that makes them better in every conversation.

  • Enablement Content & Asset Governance: Own the strategy, structure, and governance of all product marketing and sales enablement assets — ensuring clarity, consistency, version control, and accessibility across the organization.

  • Market Insights & Voice of the Customer: Establish structured processes to gather, synthesize, and analyze market and customer insight — including VoCprograms, win/loss analysis, and field feedback — to inform both GTM execution and product decision-making.

  • Competitive Intelligence & Differentiation: Lead competitive analysis and market intelligence efforts, translating insights into differentiated positioning, messaging, and strategic recommendations that help us win.

  • Product Feedback Loops & Roadmap Influence: Create the feedback loops that ensure market signals and customer learnings are systematically incorporated into product planning, prioritization, and roadmap decisions. Be the connective tissue between the field and the product team.

  • Segmentation & Use-Case Definition: Define target segments, personas, and use cases to guide product strategy, commercialization, and sales engagement.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary PMM partner to Product and Sales — ensuring alignment from product conception through launch and ongoing commercialization.

  • Partner & Vendor Direction: Provide strategic direction to external partners and vendors on product positioning, messaging, and launch requirements.

  • Performance Measurement & Optimization: Define and track success metrics for GTM initiatives, launches, and enablement — using insights to continuously refine strategy and demonstrate impact.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Deep knowledge of B2B PMM best practices — you know what good looks like and can build it
  • Ability to craft compelling product narratives and value propositions for technical and executive audiences
  • Strong understanding of go-to-market models, buyer journeys, and enterprise sales processes
  • Proficiency with product marketing and sales enablement tools and workflows
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — in a lean environment, you'll do both
  • Experience providing strategic direction to external partners and agencies
  • Creative, collaborative, and adaptable — comfortable wearing multiple hats when the team needs it

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is a strong fit if you:

  • Have built a PMM function or program from scratch and are proud of what you created
  • Are energized by being the expert in the room rather than one voice among many
  • Can take a high-level direction and turn it into a structured, well-executed program without being told exactly how
  • Are comfortable in a lean, scrappy environment where your impact is visible and your ownership is real
  • Want to do meaningful work in a regulated, technically sophisticated market where positioning and messaging genuinely matters

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of progressive product marketing, commercial, or related experience — with demonstrated ownership of GTM strategy, positioning, and sales enablement from the product side
  • Experience building or establishing PMM programs, processes, or infrastructure — not just executing within existing frameworks
  • Proven track record of partnering directly with Product and Sales leadership as a strategic equal
  • Background in B2B SaaS, regulated technology, gaming, or similarly complex enterprise environments is a strong plus
  • Degree in Marketing, Business, or related discipline — or equivalent experience
